13 Best Plastic Surgeons in Rome

Cosmetic surgery in Rome is mostly private: surgeons see patients in their own studios and operate in private clinics such as Villa Stuart, Quisisana or Ars Biomedica. Doctors from several backgrounds offer cosmetic operations, so the title worth checking is the specialisation in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.

This guide lists surgeons whose own websites state that specialisation or describe their plastic surgery practice in detail. For each one we note their training where it is given, the procedures they focus on, where they operate and how first visits work.

How this guide is ordered

Frequently asked questions

How much does cosmetic surgery cost in Rome?

It varies widely with the procedure, the surgeon, the clinic and the length of stay. Quotes often include the surgeon's fee, anaesthetist, operating theatre and overnight stay, but implants, garments and follow-up visits are sometimes separate. Several surgeons offer instalment plans or financing.

Does the Italian health service pay for plastic surgery?

Purely cosmetic operations are private and paid by the patient. Reconstructive surgery, for example after breast cancer or an accident, and some operations with a medical reason can be done in public hospitals, usually with waiting lists. Italian law also bans breast implants for purely cosmetic reasons in under-18s.

How long should I stay in Rome after surgery?

It depends on the operation. Many procedures need a check-up within the first days and stitch removal or dressing changes in the following week or two, and long flights may be discouraged for a while. Ask the surgeon for a written follow-up schedule before booking your return.
